NMPs: CJC now 4 in Parliament
Recently the Government officially announced that 9 NMPs had been appointed for a three-year term to the Parliament. Among them are two distinguished Singaporeans and ex-CJCians: Dr Pauline Straughan and Ms Audrey Wong.
| Dr Pauline Straughan nee Tay Pau Lin (1980/1981) is the current Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (NUS). She is also a former student of CHIJ (Victoria St). Pauline is a sociologist who has specialized in family issues which she has also nominated as one her areas which she would like pursue as an NMP. As her favourite quote in a recent newspaper article she quoted Corinthians 13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”. | ![]() |
| Ms Audrey Wong Wai Yen (1984/1985) , and former student of CHIJ (Toa Payoh) is the current artistic co-director of The Substation arts venue. Her favourite quote comes from Mahatma Gandhi: “Be he change you want to see in this world” and it looks like she is trying to put that into practice. Audrey was listed in ST ( 29.7.09) as a future possible contender for the position of NAC Chairman. | ![]() |
CJC congratulates two eminent CJCians and wishes them every blessing as they tread new ground as NMPs in the years to come. They join other ex-CJCians Cynthia Phua (1975/76) and Jessica Tan (82/83).
